This my friends is what I call putting my wine drinking habit to good use ;-) When I was a kid my grandmother collected coffee stirring sticks from the various restaurants & hotels she would visit and my brother and I would spend hours placing those sticks into juice jugs. We enjoyed those silly sticks so much that every time my mom mentioned anything about my grandmother we would instantly ask if we could go over for a visit and play with her stirring stick collection.
Fast forward to the 2000's and yeah, safe to say most restaurants no longer hand out collectible stirring sticks. Something most of us millennials collect however is wine corks and beer caps!
The first time I attempted this fine motor skill activity or what it really is, a destraction from what mommy is doing activity, a few years back, I handed my daughter beer caps thinking they were smaller and would be a tad bit more challenging to grasp. Since they were smaller I assumed the caps would take her forever to fill the jug & I would have that much more time to complete whatever it is that I was doing. Well my friends DO NOT do that! First beer cap went right into her mouth! So it was that moment that I grabbed my vase of wine corks and bingo! Too big to eat yet small enough to fit in the juice jug!
My daughter is 4 and she will still ask to fill her juice jug once in awhile! She was sick last week & this simple activity is what she wanted to do besides YouTube since she was stuck indoors. Crazy how sometimes the simple things are the most entertaining to kids.
