Have you ever stumbled across a recipe that made you feel
like a complete idiot because it's THAT EASY?!?! Well, if you haven't, SUPRISE!!! Today will be that day. This post will definitely leave you feeling some sort of way because not only is it an easy peasy one, I'm willing to bet you have shelled out some serious cash to get your fix in the past. All those dollars wasted when you could of been making bucket loads at home for a fraction of the price!
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm talking the brown square deliciousness that are the staple to Ruby Tuesday Salad Bar! Croutons! If you've never gone to Ruby Tuesday, ordered the salad bar & had one plate for salad & one for croutons, you have never truly lived.
How can one tiny square be filled with that much yumminess? I don't have the answer to that. I did however stumble across a "copy cat" recipe that I seriously did not believe when I first saw it. It was just too easy and cheap to be real. After several google searches to fact check, this indeed is as close as you are getting to Ruby Tuesday croutons at home.
Loaf of honey wheat or honey oat bread
2 Cups Oil or a Deep Fryer
Chop up your bread into crouton sized squares.
Pre-heat your oil. I used my deep fryer, but the 163892 other copy cat recipes on the web claim two cups of oil in a stove top pan will do the trick as well :)
Fry for about 2-3 minutes. The longer you leave them in, the more crispy they will be. 2 1/2 minutes was my preferred liking :) Crispy, yet soft in the center.
And ta-da!!!! You now how Ruby Tuesday Croutons at home!!
It's really that easy folks! Three ingredients, less than 5 minutes to whip up! I told you this recipe was going to make you feel all sorts of annoyed ;-)
Hopefully after the shock factor that you could of been getting your fix in your very own home, this whole time, you hit up the grocery story and make some of your very own. It will be one of the best things you ever do since it is a total culinary game changer ;-)
Bon - Appetite!
