Ahhhhhhh football season!! About the only thing I really like about fall. Sundays filled with pajamas, football and delicious food is the best possible way to spend a fall day here in WNY due to the cold weather. I swear some days the weather gods simply skip fall and jump right into frigid weather.
One of the foods on our football appetizer rotation is Lil'Smokies! I'm sure y'all have had the ones made with grape jelly. Those are sure delicious! But what if I told you they tasted 261819 times better made with applesauce or apple butter? It's true! I didn't know there was a way Lil'Smokies could get more delicious, but swapping grape for apple sure does the trick.
1 Package Smokies
1 Cup BBQ Sauce
1 Cup Applesauce
Add one cup BBQ to the crockpot
Add one cup Applesauce
Mix everything well and cook on high for 3-4 hours depending on how hot your Crockpot gets. My crockpot is a digital one that tends to cook pretty fast, so 3 hours and they are usually done in mine. If you have a normal crockpot 4hrs!
After 3-4 hours, serve and enjoy!
