It's time for a fashion post my loves!!! I suck so bad at these since I refuse to really have a "photo shoot" in my latest threads. It's bad enough that I already have to stage my food on my blog to appeal to the brands, but stage my life wearing clothes?!?! I have to draw the line somewhere. I can deal with making my dinner plate look fabulous for a photo since that's what they do in restaurants, but there is no excuse for a photo shoot in your newest fur besides wanting to look amazing. I already know I look amazing in my fur. I'm the one who picked it, duh ;-) So y'all get me wearing my latest in a real life setting. At least this time around. Maybe this summer I will turn to the dark side and have a full on photo shoot lakeside or something. But today you are getting lovely photos from Marti Gras at Scallion Bistro with my home girl Liz from Western New Yorker.
I don't know if it's because I read a million blogs a day or what, but I have been legit dying for a fur!!!! Every time I see a fashion blogger wearing one online, a little jealously would take over because I was yet to find "the fur" I was looking for! I'm convinced they aren't as trendy as I think since I never see them in real life. At least here in Antarctica. Then again I'm pretty sure Amish people don't wear fur vest & if the crackheads that unfortunately run this town had a fur, it would be sitting at a pawn shop.
Then one magical afternoon a rep from Make Me Chic asked if I was interested in collaborating! Unfortunately with all the overseas online boutiques popping up all over, I was skeptical at first. Some are fabulous & the others, ughhhh!!!! I learned my lesson a few times with too good to be true items. They really were too good to be true. So I clicked on over & right there on the very first page I saw it!!!! The fur of my dreams! So I obviously wrote the rep back and said hell ya we should collaborate!! I was finally going to get the fur I've been dreaming of!
The fur came and I couldn't have been any happier!!! It looked just like the photos of the site. FINALLY the fur was mine!!!!!! I felt half hippy, half Beverly Hills wearing it. I did however feel kinda bad. The Make Me Chic rep wrote me and was like so when are you going to post and I made them wait 2 weeks. Unfortunately for someone who loves fashion, I rarely get occasions to actually wear these fashions. Mom life consists of yogas & Pink hoodies, so the fur was going to have to wait for Fat Tuesday!
Fat Tuesday finally came & my homegirl Liz from Western New Yorker & I decided to hit up Scallion Bistros 1st Annual Marti Gras event! It makes me really happy that many businesses around here are finally trying to make this town somewhat livable & fun, so I try to go to as many events as possible to show support. I want these places to keep doing things. Things are FUN & hopefully people will see that and businesses can not only thrive, but we will no longer have to dread where we live because of a lack of things to do!
The event was exactly what I was expecting, fabulous! I've been to Scallions many times, it was even the restaurant hubby & I dined at before he took me on a walk down to the lake to propose, so no surprises when it came to fabulousness! They also had a band playing & specialty drinks since it was Marti Gras. Unfortunately for y'all, I was tied up in great conversation so I didn't get a million photos of the actual event, but I did remember to snap photos of my Blackened Steak & Beignets for Instagram. Would I be a blogger if I didn't snap photos of my deliciousness?! It was the first time I ever had Beignets & I must say they were tasty. Reminded me of those Chinese donuts they have on buffets, but a tad bit fancier ;-)
And of course Liz & I had to snap a pic before leaving. Picture or it didn't happen, even if it wasn't the most flattering photo of us ever taken ;-) My fur however looked fabulous in the picture & since this post really is about the fur, it made the cut.
