One of my favorite appetizers at our local pizza joint has to be there DEEP FRIED RAVIOLI!!!!! So very bad for you. I swear you can get a heart attack just by looking at them, but they are so delicious. I crave them all the time.
The only bad thing about ordering ANYTHING appetizer-like for a family is you never get enough for everyone to be satisfied. Ordering two orders ends up costing more than a large pizza. Ridiculousness!!!! So a few years back I decided to try and make my own & bam!!! Not only are they BETTER than our pizza joint favies, but they cost a hell of a lot cheaper!
Ingredients are all things you most likely have in your house already, minus the raviolis. After my first attempt at making these was a total success, you better believe I now keep a bag of frozen raviolis in my freezer at all times.
Just crack one whole egg, then take only the yolk of the second egg, pour your 1/4 cup of milk into a bowl and whisk together :)
Pour your bread crumbs into a bowl and sprinkle in as much or as little Basil as you please. You can even skip if you aren't a basil fan ;-) just adds a little flavor!
Then dip your ravioli into the egg mix.
Then the bread crumbs. I do this egg/crumbs thing two times to get a nice thick coat on my raviolis :)
Toss the raviolis into the deep fryer set on 350 or you can even fry them up in oil via the stove.
After you take the ravioli out of the deep fryer, top with some grated cheese, pour some marinara sauce for dipping and enjoy!
