Thank you LEGOLAND Florida for hosting our stay!
Have you ever traveled anywhere that you assumed when booking the trip it would be a vacation for everyone besides yourself? That’s how I originally felt when booking our LEGOLAND Florida portion of our Orlando trip in July. I was more of a princess who loved to play pretend when I was a little girl, where as my daughter and hubby are the ones with engineer type minds that love to build.
Then something happened. We checked into LEGOLAND Beach Retreat and within hours I was in love. Everything really was awesome and I can’t wait to go back next year!
Here are my favorite parts of the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat!
1. Check In From Your Car!
Thats right folks! You do not need to leave your vehicle to check in. I don’t know about you, but I HATE parking, lugging the family into a hotel lobby only to find out we now need to load all of our crap back into the car and drive to the complete opposite side of the resort to find our room. LEGOLAND has made checking in stress free by having a drive thru check in. Just tell the person at the security gate your name. Hand them your credit card for incidentals and drive off to your LEGO Bungalow.
2. Outdoor Play Areas
Do your kids have entirely too much energy, but heading back to the theme park or even the pool sounds like too much work? Each group of LEGO bungalows forms a circle with a playground in the middle of each lot of bungalows! So grab that book you have been wanting to read, but haven’t found the time to start since you have been go Go GO the whole trip and send the kids to the playground while you watch from the LEGO Bungalow patio with that book in your hand!
3. Stay In A LEGO Bungalow
This is probably the most obvious reason why one would want to stay at LEGO Beach Retreat, but you get to stay in a LEGO BUNGALOW!!! How many people can say they stayed in a LEGO house? Probably no one you know. Heck, I posted this exact photo on my Instagram account and so many people liked/saved my photo I ended up on the explorer/popular page. Safe to say I earned a few cool points from my followers due to staying in the most AWESOME place ever ;-)
4. Bunk Beds & LEGO!
As you already know, my family was huge fans of the outside of the bungalow and as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by a huge LEGO mural covering the wall over the King bed. So much attention to detail, right down to the light fixtures and the LEGO sea creatures on the wall. The best part of the Bungalow however goes to the additional room! Pull back a privacy LEGO theme curtain and there is a fun room for the kids to sleep, with bunk beds another big mural and most exciting of all, a box of LEGO to play with!
5. Sandy Play Area
Located in the pool area, there just happens to be a sandy play area for building sandcastles, bean bag toss games and a playground. I don’t know about you, but my all time favorite activity when on vacation is having a delicious cocktail in my hand while chilling poolside. While kids add so much more fun to vacations, they fo however make it literally impossible to enjoy that poolside drink. You need to keep those eyes on your swimming child! Having a sandy play area next to the pool is genius! Once the kids have splashed the afternoon away, send them to the sandy play area for even more fun so you can finally enjoy that poolside cocktail since your kids are safe building sandcastles! They cans drown in sand ;-)
6. LEGO In The Swimming Pool
My favorite part of any resort is the pool! It’s always the number one thing I check when making hotel reservations! My family is all about the mermaid life, so we were pretty ecstatic when we saw how awesome the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat Pool was! We had a blast splashing away and my daughter couldn’t get enough of the floating LEGOS! We always joke that she’s going to grow up to be an engineer. She is literally the poster child for LEGO. Her other favorite activity is swimming. So building LEGO in water? My daughter was in paradise!
Have you been to LEGOLAND?
Who’s ready for back to school? The kids will be pretty stoked to see all their friends and wear all their new gear and then exhausted as soon as they stroll off that bus! Give them a creative fun snack that will give them a pep in their step after school and gear them up for … homework time!
These D.I.Y Apple Grams are easy peasy to make and they will have your kids begging for more! They even make terrific back to school party snacks if you’re lucky enough to live in a school district that permits homemade baked goods. Unfortunately for us, if it doesn’t come wrapped from the grocery store, it’s a huge no no. So after school treat it is for my princess! Enjoy!
•Red candy melts (can substitute red frosting with no heating)
•Light green candy melts
1. Lay out a piece of parchment paper and carefully break your graham crackers in half so they’re squares.
2. In a small microwave safe bowl, heat 2 cups of your red candy melts on 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
3. Carefully pour your red candy melts into a decorating bag and cut a small tip off the end.
4. Use your decorating bag to frost the graham crackers.
5. Break a pretzel and use a side piece to place on the top of your Grahams to look like a stem.
6. Carefully break your green candy melts in half, smooth out the rough half with your fingertip and place next to the pretzel stem.
7. Serve & Enjoy!
Discloser ~ While LEGOLAND did host our entire stay, I paid for this meal myself. All options are obviously 100% my own!
As I sit here at home in Western New York on this dreadful rainy day, all I can think about is the fabulous time we had a LEGOLAND Florida last month! Definitely one of those places I didn’t expect to fall in love with & left totally obsessed!!! Everything really was awesome! I can’t wait to head back someday!
Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet
While roaming the park the first afternoon we were at LEGOLAND Florida, we stumbled upon the best theme park discovery of all times!!!! A freaking pizza buffet! We frequent theme parks a lot. It’s one of our favorite family things to! As a self proclaimed theme park connoisseur, I can personally tell you most theme parks charge a fortune for their food. It’s like they know you’re going to be starving at one point and say screw it and shell out those big bucks to satisfy your craving. So to find Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet in the middle of LEGOLAND Florida was a dream come true!
Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet is obviously an all you can eat dining option offered in the park! I will compare it to an “upscale” CiCi’s. Same concept, just a whole lot cleaner and the food prepared a tad bit better! The food is always hot too since this is a pretty popular spot to dine. The pizza is constantly coming out of those pizza ovens to accommodate everyone!
Fun Town Pizza & Pasta offers a variety of pizza and pasta. In addition to the pizza and pasta offered, they also have a salad bar complete with all the fresh options. After you stuff yourself with delicious pizza, you can then top off your meal with a slice of cinnamon or fruity dessert pizza!
I know, after scrolling this far you’re like what’s the catch?! A buffet at a theme park sounds amazing, but how much will I be shelling out for unlimited pizza. The answer? Only $16.99 for adults & $10 for kids! Dinning at a theme park doesn’t get any cheaper than that folks! Drinks are even included in that price! A steal of a lifetime if you ask me.
Have you ever been to LEGOLAND?
Just two more weeks before the kids head back to school for us here in WNY! Summer seriously flew by this year. I’m not sure if I’m ready to give up pool days quite yet, but I do have to admit, I get crazy excited at the fact my life will once again run on a schedule. Life just makes more senesce when it’s all planned out!
• Nutter Butters
• Yellow and cocoa candy melts

• Parchment paper
1. Carefully place 2 cups of your yellow candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
2. Use a fork to dip your Nutter Butters into the yellow chocolate, let any excess chocolate drip off and place onto a piece of parchment paper.
3. Transfer to the freezer for 5-8 minutes to harden.
4. Now place 1 cup of your cocoa candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
5. Add your cocoa melts into a decorating bag and cut a very small tip off the end.
6. Use your filled decorating bag to draw inch lines and 1/2 inch lines going across the bottom of your yellow Nutter Butters lengthwise.
7. Then draw three numbers along the inch lines and let harden.
8. Serve & Enjoy!
If you live in Western New York, I’m sure every time you have a bestie head to Buffalo they rave about their experience dining at 716 Food And Sport. If a Sabers game is taking place, good luck trying to score a table without a reservation since this sports bar is right next door!
I’m ashamed to say this, but I had NEVER been. I have so many favorite restaurants in Buffalo, that I just never made it to that side of town to dine. Unless you’re at Canalside or the Harbor, it’s just out of the way.
Two weekends ago, as most of you know, we had the pleasure of working with The Big Bounce America and the event just happened to be steps away from 716 Food And Sport. It was finally my time to see if all the hype was real!
Named for the Buffalo area code, 716! This sports bar is definitely an attraction in itself. With a wall of screens at the main bar, TV monitors in every booth and on every wall (70+ total in the entire restaurant including the restroom). No matter what sport or team you are rooting for you’ll never have to wonder what the score is or miss a goal.
The atmosphere is loud and boisterous, even on non-Saber Game days with two levels of seating and an outdoor patio! Whether you come pre or post game for a beer or good eats, 716 Food and Sport is sure to be a fun time if atmosphere is what you’re looking for!
What to Drink?
It’s a sports bar so I’d go for a beer! If I wasn’t working media for The Big Bounce America the day we dined at 716 Food And Sport, I would have enjoyed one of there many beers off of their extensive craft beer menu!!! 40 different beers, 20 on tap as well as many specialty drinks and cocktails. Something for everyone & all drinks, even the non-alcoholic ones come in snazzy 716 glasses! I almost purchased one off of their merchandise menu.
If you have been a reader of The Trophy WifeStyle for awhile, you know kid’s menus can make or break our dining experience. My daughter is one picky eater, which is shocking since I’m the biggest foodie you will ever meet. She doesn’t even eat meat, unless you count hot dogs and pepperoni meats. Safe to say 716 Food And Sport passes the kids menu test! Normal, kid friendly food options. I have never understood why restaurants exclude grilled cheese! Every non-meat eating kids favorite and ridiculously cheap to make. Vegetarians are trendy after all. You would think there would be more non-meat items. Bravo 716 Food And Sport for the safe kids menu options.
What to Eat?
As you can see, the menu features regular bar fare, but with local twists like, Bison Chip Dip, Perry’s Ice Cream, Buffalo Mac & Cheese, Buffalo Wings & Beef in Weck! Love the local touches!!!
What I Ate?
I started with the French Onion Soup, which was a special of the day. Honestly, I wouldn’t order this soup again. It’s a good thing it was only a special because besides the yummy cheese part, the soup was just ok. Nothing to brag about.
For my main course I had the Beef on Weck & Wings combo meal & so did my husband. When in Buffalo, one must eat Buffalo native foods right? The wings are definitely tasty – not dry and shrivelled like you get at other sports bars – and served with a choice of sauces. I figured that 716 Food And Sport would have to nail the wings to call themselves 716!
However, the Beef on Weck Sandwich was the part of the meal that made 716 Food And Sport a place I would dine at again! Slow roasted, sliced, roast beef with au jus, piled on top of a salted Kimmelweck bun! I make some killer Beef on Weck myself, so I have pretty high standards when it comes to this delicious sandwich. 716 Food And Sport nailed it!
I would definitely recommend dining at 716 Food And Sport next time you’re in the Buffalo area! Plenty of beer, delicious food and a fantastic kids menu. You won’t regret it :)
