Ahhhhhhh back to school!!!! Finally my blog life can go back to normal! So sorry for being a total spam bot the last week and a half :-/ Promise I'm not a sell out!!!! I've had my daughter home with me in between summer and fall school sessions & lets just say I don't know how you other work at home moms with kiddos running lose do it! I seriously cannot get any creative work done with my 3 year old here thinking she runs the show, so creativity took the back burner the last 12 days & I have just been posting anything with deadlines.
Let's just say I definitely enjoyed spending quality time with my lil'princess. So nice to spend days at the time chillen poolside with my mini me, but I'm definitely glad to be back! So many fabulous ideas have been brainstorming inside my head and I'm totally ready to rock out some fabulosity this fall! 9am last Thursday came at perfect time! Creative juices are definitely flowing.
The best part of this whole back to school thingy was definitely all the shopping that we did! If you're on Periscope, (@kourtneelynne *Follow Me If You Aren't*) you probably saw my scope on how ridiculously over the top I like to dress my daughter. Sorry not sorry always comes to mind when I think about this because, yes I know it is RIDICULOUS, make fun if you want, I even laugh at myself ;-) permission to laugh away!!!! but I have one and only one child, so if it's a Betsy Johnson backpack and a custom back to school dress that I feel is necessary, then that's what we get. Some people live threw there kiddos threw activities and sports. Me? It definitely threw fashion.
Unfortunately, the universe likes to pay funny games! Always keeping me on my toes. Since I went over the top with my daughters outfit, my daughter just had to put her own touch on it & transform her totally cute outfit into a Wizzard of Oz tribute lol.... We were suppose to be shopping for plain black, match everything shoes & this is what the 3 year old demanded to rock on her first day of school! Ruby red slippers....For a kiddo who barley speaks due to a speech delay, she definitely has opinions & she's definitely a shoe girl. Atleast her dress has red in it right?!?! Trying to find the positive ;-)Things could always be worse right?
Since my daughter did buy ruby red slippers that she's totally obsessed with wearing, we might of had to shop for some other red pieces for her wardrobe so we could avoid as many, "no you can't wear those shoes with that outfit" arguments as possible!!!! My hubby loves shopping more than anyone I know & I think my daughter and I officially made him wish shopping didn't exist lol.
Isn't my princess a cutie?!?! Proud to say the dress was the hit of the school!!! While waiting for school to start, I swear we had every teacher that walked by give complements on the dress :) Being the over the top fashion parent that I am, that totally made my week.
Only bad thing is my child refuses to wear her backpack. I'm hoping afew days into school and seeing other kids wearing there's that she will want to eventually give it a wear.
I happened to get to the school just early enough to catch a glimpse of the kiddos walking to the buses & pick-up!!! Made me happy to see my daughter actually following directions from a distance. That has always been something I wondered. If she listens to others when I'm not around? With her speech delay and partial communication with people this totally made my day to see this & kind of put some fears of mine at ease. So funny how one simple thing such as this can calm so many nerves. As you can see, still no backpack wearing lol... She had her own personal backpack carrier -_-
This might be the cutest idea of all times!!!! A notebook stays in your kiddos backpack so you have constant communication with your child's teacher! Since she goes to a public school preschool so she can receive speech services threw the school district, it's not as easy to talk to teachers like it is in a private preschool or daycare. I'm loving that if I have any questions or concerns, since my daughter doesn't have the verbal to tell me herself, the answer to whatever it is in wonder is just afew hours away! I think all preschool kids should be sent home with a notebook like this! To me this is the most brilliant idea ever.
How was your kiddos first day back? If they haven't yet returned, are they scared? Excited? Would love to hear :)
