If y'all are huge steak fans & you don't have a Ruth's Chris around the corner....and you don't know if you can make it until next spring to grill one up yourself.... well I may just have you covered with the steakhouse secret....
Cast Iron Skillet Steaks!
All you need is a Cast iron Skillet, salt, pepper & a big juicy steak!
you can really use any seasonings you choose... we usually try out all the different steak seasonings at Wegmans... but for this blog post I kept it simple with salt & pepper which is just as delicious & traditionally used by steakhouses ;-)
Preheat oven to 450
Season steaks with the salt & pepper. Don't be afraid to layer on that salt either! One of the biggest mistakes people make is not putting enough salt on. I'm not a salt person so I have messed this up myself before the first few times making these. If you think you put way too much on... well honestly you probably nailed it ;-) After seasoning let the steaks sit for about an hour.
Foil up either a plate or pan for use later!
Put one teaspoon of oil on the pan... I used olive oil but veggie oil will also get the job done! Then open all windows in your house because it might get a little smokey ;-) and preheat you skillet until you think the pan can't heat anymore then throw on those steaks. Cook for two minutes on each side.
take off of stove and put the skillet in the preheated oven. Leave the steaks in for about 3-5 minutes. I usually leave mine in for about 4 minutes and it will make a medium rare steak.
please do not skip this step! a lot of people like to dig right in after taking out of oven... but this step will make or break your steak if you ask me! take the steaks out of the oven and let them sit on the tin foil for 5-7 minutes. this will give your steaks time to have all the juices settle ect ;-)
