MOTHERS DAY IS THIS SUNDAY!!!!! Here is your shopping and brunch reservation reminder, if you're someone like me who has a hard time believing it's already May!! However, as Mother’s Day quickly approaches, I have been reflecting on what exactly my mom means to me. Our relationship has definitely changed throughout the years, that's for sure!
When I was a munchkin, my mom was my bestie. I remember going out on lunch dates to all of my favorite spots and thinking how awesome life was. Just mom and I against the world. Then as soon as I hit my teen years, I avoided my mom as much as possible. It was uncool to chill with mom, so I left her out of almost everything I had the power to since we were total opposites. Me, a makeup, fashion-loving cheerleader and mom a rockin’ roll loving, free-spirit hippy. We totally clashed!!! So once high school graduation came along and I was finally 18, WooHoo!!! I ended up moving thousands of miles away since I was miss independent. Funny thing is, years later, once I became a mom myself, things came full circle and mom was once again my bestie. Funny how that happens!
To me mom is an inspiration! It was motherhood that made me really appreciate everything my mom did for me when I was growing up! I was a spoiled pain in the freakin' butt sometimes (ok, most of the time) and she STILL loved me. Mom definitely had that mom superpower of loving me unconditionally, even in the moments I least deserved it. I can only hope I have that kind of love and patience with my own daughter.
If mom taught me anything in life about motherhood, it is that you can't control your kid’s destiny. As different as mom and I were and still are, she always gave me the space to grow and be my own person. Safe to say I would have never grown up to be miss independent if I wasn't raised by an independent, goal-chasing woman myself!
This year for Mother’s Day I really want to treat mom to something special to show her that I do appreciate all that she has done for me. Reservations are made for a special Mother’s Day Brunch at a family favorite restaurant. Hello "MOMosas"!!!! And for an extra special surprise, I’m turning to Kay Jewelers to find the perfect gift.
Kay.com has a huge selection of gorgeous gift ideas for mom and best of all there’s something for every style and budget. Have a hippy/boho loving mom like myself? You will have no problem finding stylish pieces like the Le Vian Opal ring on Kay.com.
Mom not into rings?!? How about a chic set of earrings?! One can never go wrong with traditional solitaire diamond earrings. I always want my gifts to have some extra meaning and this set of earrings really would show mom how much I admire her – for everything!
Is your mom more traditional than my own? Maybe your mom shares my taste in style and would love a pretty pendant like this heartbeat necklace. You can find everything from dressy to everyday pieces at Kay.com.
I have been obsessed with rose gold for some time now thanks to my phone and head phones being rose gold! So when I saw the rose gold touches on this Open Hearts necklace. Omg!!!! Want!!!!! This necklace has my name written all over it. (Hint hint to my hubby)
This rose gold Bolo bracelet also won a spot in my heart as well. "Pink is my favorite color". Anyone else love that song? Anyway....This sparkly bracelet would make one fabulous gift for your mom.
PS ~Someone please send this post to my hubby since I need all these rose gold pieces in my life ;-)

Another week, another nail color!!!! On my most recent trip to TJ Maxx, I couldn't leave without raiding the cheap nail polish bin. 95% of the time the polishes are not on the fabulous side what so ever. You kind of look at them and know instantly how that Polish ended up at TJ Maxx for dirt cheap.
However this week I totally scored!!!! Not only did they have a sweet color, but it was also part of the OPI Infinite Shine Collection!!! If you haven't purchased an OPI Infinite Shine polish, you need to do it! They are on the pricy side, even in the TJ Maxx cheap bin the polish was still $4.99, but they really do make your nails shine for days. Worth every penny!
This shade also had a super cute name. I'll Have A Manhattan!!! I'm actually not too fond of the Manhattan cocktail myself, but the name was a good one! I love it when nail polishes have cute names.
The polish looks dark purple when you look at it in the bottle, but once on it is a tad bit on the darker side. If you're wearing a dark color like black, your nails will look black until you put them in light. I wear a ton of black, so the fact the polish looks black makes it very universal for my wardrobe. I can keep this on for days without having to swap my nail color for another since 75% of my wardrobe just happens to be black!
Have you tried any of the OPI Inifinite Shine polishes?
